Full-Stack & Mobile Developer
Hi, I'm Daniel Medcalf, a 21-year-old full-stack and mobile developer from New Zealand. I have been coding since high school, with skills spanning web and cross-platform mobile development. In February 2026 I designed, built, and launched Koi, a habit-tracking app for iOS and Android, entirely on my own, growing it to 2,000+ users. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Software Development at Toi Ohomai while building products that are practical and polished. When I am not coding, you will find me cooking, gaming, or learning new technologies.
Koi: Daily Progress
February 2026 – Present
Designed, built, launched, and marketed a cross-platform habit-tracking app (iOS & Android) entirely solo with Flutter/Dart, growing it to 2,000+ users since its February 2026 launch. Engineered an offline-first architecture (Drift/SQLite) with Supabase for cloud sync & auth, Cloudflare R2 for media storage, and RevenueCat for subscriptions. Wrote native Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) integrations alongside the Flutter core. Implemented scheduled, timezone-aware reminders, photo/audio journaling, focus timers, and progress charts, and localised the app into four languages. Designed & built the marketing site (koi-calm.app) with Next.js, Sanity CMS, and Redis on Vercel; drove growth through Meta & Google Ads, AppsFlyer attribution, and SEO; monitored stability with Sentry.
